2022 was an eventful year. Lots of real estate appraising and no art or comic shows.
2023 is a new year and we hope it is a good one for you and your friends and family.

Here is to all the students, with their books and their classes.
A salute to all the students, stretching their skulls to make room for more knowledge, all while trying to navigate this world and convince themselves that their educational efforts will be worth something.
A shout out to all the students, paying for the right to work hard and try to pass their classes, to pass those exams, to get that degree (or certification).
All you students have my utmost respect. I see you. You are trying to do a great thing: to make yourselves and the world better by encompassing new facts and learning new skills.
Encountering new ideas will always be good for you.
Reading more books will help you to grow and empathize with the other humans and robots that share this world with you.
Hopefully, you will learn something about yourself along the way: how to learn, how to ask questions, how to leave a question open long enough to let wisdom settle into that space, how the answers are never as satisfying as the questions themselves.
Here is to all the students! Hail!
I am a student again as well. We share this journey.
You would think 3 degrees would be enough. But apparently not…
I have a quiz to get ready for. See you on the playground later?

I am a robot. And you may be one too. I did not choose the nature of my form, nor did I choose the basic OS that I run. But as self awareness arose, I began to own my ability to write the programs I wish to run in the world. I may be a robot, but I choose to be a Contrary Robot.
With the dual programs of compassion and insight I walk my path to find meaningful work, companionship and joy in the world.
Being a Contrary Robot is not for everyone. If you feel you can be better, do better, and be more than your makers' tool...then join me. Don't be a Drone! Be a Contrary Robot.

Hey, Contrary Robot Fans!
We miss all our friends and fellow geeks in the Pacific Northwest, but Reno is pretty amazing.
Evelyn and I are finally moved into our new digs in Reno and are starting to find our way around this dynamic high-desert town on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. So we have more sun than we are used to, and some great views. If you have info on the best geek shows and events in this part of the world, comic book shows, toy fairs, etc., please let us know.

-- Jay Larsen Contrary Robot Artist jay@contraryrobot.com
Watercolor and ink, paintings and illustrations.
Jay here. I've been working for the last couple of weeks on a Contrary Robot painting of a historical nature. I was brought to my attention, via secretive messages and ancient documents that Leonard da Vinci actually had a Contrary Robot working with him in his Florence studio.
The Vitruvian Bot painting (watercolor and ink, 24"x18") is my recreation of a journal page from Leonardo Da Roboti, who was also producing designs for a mysterious patron named Johan da Medici.
More information, prints and posters will be available soon, here at ContraryRobot.com.
Sometimes those Contrary Robots can even be found hanging around in your very own backyard. Like these bird feeder bots I caught a glimpse of recently.
LarsenGeekery is now Contrary Robot!
Don't worry, you will still find all of Jay's retro robot art, watercolor paintings, and Evelyn's geeky bags, skirts, patches and more. We are still the family that geeks together. But we have found that Contrary Robot was the brand name that seemed to stick with people.
So we will be slowly retiring the LarsenGeekery name and rebranding everything over time with Contrary Robot!
We hope you will join us on this journey.
Jay & Evelyn Larsen
